In this video, I show you two ways to resize your texture in Photoshop so that it will fit your image exactly. This method works in Elements as well.

Action Update

I’ve found over time, I use this method without the action. Really, the re-size method itself is pretty fast, but feel free to download and try out the action.

I also show you how to use the little action I created to cut down the steps for my preferred way to resize textures. It’s a small action, but it’s helpful. I use it in my workflow.

I know that some texture makers have pretty swank ways to load and resize a texture, and I may someday offer a more automated script, but what I like about the DIY method is that you have more options. I would rather browse my images using Lightroom or Bridge than load them from a script. This action will also work with any texture, not just mine.

This Free action has been tested in Adobe Photoshop CS2–CS5. I’m sure it also works in CS. I’m not sure about earlier versions of Photoshop. I’ve also tested it in Adobe Photoshop Elements 9.

Please watch the video before using the action!

Texas Chicks Blogs & Pics has excellent instructions on loading Actions for Elements. They even offer a service to install it, if you find you need further help. Go to their blog. (They have classes on Elements as well.)

Photoshop users, consult your help or search the internet for the many tutorials on setting up and managing your actions.

Here is the Action Download

Let me know in the comments if it works in your version of software.
